Why smart drivers look at IUL
Most drivers don't have a pension, and a 401(k) isn't always an option for owner-operators. Here's what an IUL is built to do.
Family protection
A death benefit for the people who count on your paycheck while you're on the road.
Downside protection
Credits are linked to a market index, with a 0% floor on index credits so a down year doesn't credit a loss.*
Living benefits
Some policies include riders that can let you use part of the death benefit early for a qualifying critical, chronic or terminal illness.*
Access later
Once value builds, you may be able to borrow against it for retirement income or emergencies.*
Your plan rides with you
An IUL is your own policy, not a company benefit. Switch carriers, go from company driver to owner-operator, or park the truck for good, and your coverage stays yours.
- Owned by you, not tied to any employer or carrier
- Works for owner-operators, company and lease-purchase drivers
- Set up over the phone around your schedule
How it works
No office visit, no pressure. It fits around your schedule.

Is this a fit?
Probably a good fit if you…
- Drive professionally (owner-operator, company or lease-purchase)
- Can set aside about $150+ a month long term
- Want protection now and cash value for later
Probably not a fit if you…
- Are looking for final expense or burial coverage
- Need the money back within a few years
- Can't keep funding it month to month
Common questions
Is this final expense insurance?
No. An IUL is permanent life insurance that also builds cash value over time. Final expense is a small policy meant to cover burial costs.
Can I lose money in the market?
Index credits have a 0% floor, so a down market year doesn't credit a negative return. Policy fees and charges still apply and reduce cash value, and returns are capped.*
How fast does cash value grow?
Slowly at first. Cash value is limited in the early years and builds over time with steady funding. An IUL is a long-term plan.
What if I switch trucking companies?
The policy is yours, not your employer's, so it goes with you from job to job.
Do I need a medical exam?
It depends on the carrier, your age, health and coverage amount. The agent will tell you what applies to you.
What happens on the call?
A licensed agent asks a few questions, explains how IUL works, and shows you what a plan could look like. There's no obligation.
